I look at the Indiana Pacers, of 2014. They have the number one seed and came into the National Basketball League playoffs with the intention of dethroning the Miami Heat. They could have been the team that will win the NBA championship this year.
Here we are one game away from the Indiana Pacer’s elimination. In the end, they can pull the greatest upset and could dethrone the Miami Heat but history says they will lose, on 5/28/2014, or soon after. Why is this important?
In 2002, the Philadelphia Eagles played valiantly against an up and coming Saint Louis Rams team, in a great introductory playoff game but lost 29-24. The next year, the Eagles were the team make that next step and move toward the illusive Super Bowl Championship. In a playoff game at home, in 2003, in the last game at Veterans’ Stadium, the Philadelphia Eagles threw away their opportunity to get to the Super Bowl.
They closed the door on so much history from Veteran Stadium’s past. They threw away an opportunity for the Eagles to make an unprecedented return to the Super Bowl, against a former Super Bowl rival, the Oakland Raiders. The Eagles, in 2004 finally get to the Super Bowl but lose. The team only sniffed at Super Bowl opportunities afterwards, with the last, being in 2008. Why is this important?
The Philadelphia Eagles, from 2002-2008, gave the Philadelphia Eagles the best opportunities in years to get a Super Bowl, and possibly become a dynasty. After it all, All Philadelphia fans, and their teams, have are memories. There is hope Chip Kelly’s Philadelphia Eagles will get their Super Bowl championship.
The Indiana Pacers are solid, but the question is why is this not showing up at the court? What was the point of getting the number one seed? Do they want to be like the most recent Atlanta Falcons? The Atlanta Falcons are a team that contends and looks like “the team to beat”, but they fall, or fail, annually, as a quality contender.
The Indiana Pacers can be a paper contender. They can pretend they will be a threat in the playoffs, annually, or step up and scare Miami. They can decide to fall, but fall like a champion, with next year being the year they put a stamp on the league. They can even decide it is time to shock the world and beat Miami, from here on out. They cannot just simply bow down in any of the remaining games, unless you just want a bunch of memories, for years to come.
The Nintendo Wii U Game pad is a cool device. A lot of what it has to offer seems to be unexplored. It is great to have software that allows the system to highlight its ability. Sometimes, when there are individuals who believe the home console should let go of the Game pad, I ask why. I believe there are at least five different reasons to keep the Wii U Game pad. This may not change many minds, but I think, they are very interesting thoughts.
1) The Wii U Game pad Can Add To The Ultimate Digital Novelizations On Wii U
I look to the Harry Potter franchise, as an example, and an opportunity to use the Nintendo Wii U in a way. As a further extension of the website Pottermore, and the Harry Potter novels, why not use the combination of the Wii U Game pad, Wii U Motes and Wii U controllers, along with high definition graphics, communication and game play, to immerse a reader, and player, into a world based on Harry Potter’s Universe? This is just an example, but it can apply to any novel. If Nintendo drives communications among its users, the ability to interact with some stories and great graphics, the Wii U Game pad can work.
2) Make Use of the Wii U Game pad As a Visual Device, or Character, Along with the Wii U Controller
I never got to play the game Ju On: The Grudge Haunted House Simulator, on the Wii. I did play a game the Calling. It makes use of the Wii mote. It vibrates, shakes and reacts to how you move inside a haunted house. In order to create tension, and with nice graphics for a Wii title, ghost pop up and appear, shocks, and scares, show up abound and sounds erupt with the use of the Wii mote.
Take a haunted house game, create graphics for the television, separate animations, and actions, for the Wii U Game pad, this tool can play a part as a scary device. In a wrestling game, possibly Pro Wrestling X, the Game pad can dictate wrestling game play based on user’s separate interactions on the Game pad. In a tag team match, players might use two players; one player goes out of the ring. A separate action outside the ring, in a mini-game, can dictate how quickly players get back to the ring while another player fights two other players in the ring.
3) The Wii U Game pad Can Help to Apply the Augmented Reality Concept to Wii U
Using the Nintendo Figurine Platform to customize the Nintendo Experience, Nintendo can use the same figures for Augmented Reality, on Wii U. Nintendo can create secret games players can unlock with each figurine. For example, capture the Luigi figure, with the Wii U’s camera, and expose a Luigi versus Donkey Kong game, on the Wii U Game pad.
4) The Game pad, with Wii U’s, Ability to Turn Off, and On, Can Add Life to Games
You finish a game. You are beaten. You decide to fight another day. The console, with Game pad, introduces players to, content, automatically, outside of the game. You turn off your console. The Wii U can come back on, without you, and operate from just the Game pad. This process can direct players, who lose a lot or, who win, directly to the Mii Verse, for game tips or to other success stories. Players can get back into the game, to finish the game, find hidden rewards, and enter some other hidden game to improve your skills on a particular game.
5) Add content to the Movies, Youtube Experiences, and Other Media Content through Wii U
This is a tough idea. It requires companies to create solid content, and use creativity, to coincide with Youtube videos, Netflix. Hulu Plus and other media content on the Nintendo Wii U to extend the initial experience. Netflix plans to bring a series of Marvel shows to their service. While you watch the show on Wii U, why not add a solid game experience, on the Game pad, as a bonus. This add-on can extend a series, or movie, into playable form.
I truly believe beyond the Nintendo Wii U’s specifications, the Game pad exists to immerse the game player, or media user, like no home console has, or will. The question will be what game developers, and media developers, will step up and experiment on the Nintendo Wii U Game pad, to deliver experiences that will expand the whole Wii U user experience.
I had come to see the movie Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The movie is cool. I found it interesting that the evil infestation, in this movie, had come from within a “decent” organization and corruption, of the whole, creates a new path for all those it affects.
In an initial movie, Captain America fights evil with a specific intent to create, an initiate, a new peaceful world. The reality is Captain America will fight, and fight, but will only beat back this evil, temporarily. The evil will exist forever. The evil will redefine itself, turn it over and rise to counter good and get to its own outcome, a new world of evil hope. The reality of evil is good will forever fight the evil.
In a galaxy far, far away, the reactions to the Emperor’s fall into a reactor shaft, on the Death Star, sets a possible end to the reign of the Empire, the end of evil. There is some relief at the end of Return of the Jedi. It is finally over. The man with the power-driven talons is gone. What excites me is just what could spark a new Sith arrival. The fear of not punishing, and not stopping evil, creeps up our spines. New youthful faces, and wiser, past characters will draw new lines in the sand. It’s not done?
The relationships and emotions, in these films, will drive many viewers to connect, or not, to a new era of good versus evil. Sith might battle the Jedi.
The actors will work hard, the screenplay will flow, and the film direction will drive everyone to see these new Star Wars films as just simple pieces or new classics. It is bad to want it, but the Sith, the dark side, might come back, even harder, to remind everyone peace is a privilege. I love the idea this is happening. Everyone who loves Star Wars does.
It is rewritten. The acting happens as we speak. Light sabers might clash. The creatures come to life. The droids ignite. The worlds come to life. There is something about this time and space. The right motives, or wrong motives, will write this story. Characters will take a stand.
Come December 2015, the movie screen will be ready, the story will play out, a hand, in the dark, and one in the light, will shock the universe. The peanut butter, chocolate and other sweet treats will enlighten out senses, the buttery popcorn will warm our hands, and cold drinks will quench our thirst and emphasize our real chills. Star Wars is back.
